Merry Christmas to ALL and Happy Holidays!!!!

Spice Girls

Sarah from Germany...

Here is Sarah's reveiw of the Spice Girls' concert...

December, 20th, 2007 , Cologne Germany

Thursday morning, I wake up in anticipation: today is THE day: The Spice Girls will perform at the Köln Arena! What shall I wear?
Well, I can tell you, I didn’t clarify what outfit to choose, ‘because I was late for work…Sitting at my desk in the Advertising Agency I work at, I was counting the minutes, till I would go to the most exciting event of 2007! Finally, I could leave and prepare for this big party!
I was surprised, but there weren’t as many people in the trains as I would have imagined- didn’t this 1. Million inhabitants city know WHAT they would miss?

Then I burned the corner and saw those long lines with tons of people waiting- you could hear from every where around, that nobody liked what they saw, neither liked what they had to do: Waiting. Well, well, well, as Carrie Underwood once said: “some hearts have the stars on their side”- my friend Valerie and me found an entrance where we could slip into the arena within seconds, First step into heaven!
I was lucky, because the security ignored my well-hidden-but-of-course-getting-discovered-by-the-enemy camera, and my heart made another step forward: Yeah! I can take pictures!
But as we entered the all doors were closed, and we had to wait 30 minutes before they would let us enter the hall.

We had the most amazing seats, we could see EVERYTHING! The stage was right in front of us, and the seats gave a real good space for our feet, which we by the way didn’t need, because we were standing all the time, anyway: I was so lucky….till I noticed, that my camera would not do me the favour to make good pictures, all I got was crap! Excuse my French! Sorry, but you will not receive any nice pics from me, I am dreadfully sorry. All my video tapes are not in a good quality to, so I better not send you any of it.

These girls took their time, it should have started at 8p.m. but we had to wait another 51 minutes till they got on stage. The lack of entertainment before the main act didn’t made the situation nicer, but we didn’t fell asleep, so….

I have to object to all the bad critiques those girls got: It was awesome! They looked really great in golden outfits; they were all in a very good shape. Gosh, how skinny Victoria Beckham was, and Gerry Halliwell didn’t seem to have eaten one bite during the day, but she was fit and dancing all over the stage, like a summer breezeJ
Talking about which: dancing was not a big thing for the girls. They had 10 male dancers jumping around them, but the girls didn’t move really hard, simple steps followed by swinging of the arms and smiling! They were nice to look at though! And against my expectation, Victoria Posh Spice, got the loudest applause when she sang her solo! I guess German Fans love her posh behaviour! Of course Melanie Chisholm was a big success too, she’s famous in Germany, and she even sings a jingle for German television Pro 7 that starts to sound before the commercial break starts! Anyway…

The Spice Girls played all their well known songs, they were supported by a live band and everybody was singing with them and they changed their outfit within seconds, god knows how they managed to do this! Their Outfits were always shining bright and sparkling, short and sexy.

What I didn’t expect, was their solo performances in between. At first a weird scenario showed, when the stage changed into a runway, I guess they were Cavalli Models, because Roberto Cavalli designed all the outfits, but it was not necessary to make a runway for cavalli male fashion while a spice girls concert- not the best product placement, in my opinion, but who cares.

Victoria started her solo with a dramatic black dress and entered also the runway, to house music and disappeared down the stage, and then Melanie Brown had her entrance. She was dressed in a Leo print Overall and was cracking a whip over her head, then she got one man out if the audience to enter the stage too, and made a sexy dance show right in front of him, always around: her whip… Well, not my style, but funny and sexy too. This was the luckiest day of his life I guess.

After Emma Buntons appearance with her 2003 song “Maybe” the Girls performed Holler! From the year 2000, a song which they released only with 4 of them, Gerry Halliwell disappeared from the stage. Maybe she knew what would happen next: They were all dressed in black, Mel C almost looked like a star from the musical Starlight express with her dress and hair, but the weirdest thing was, when the girls took a dancer each and held him by a chain, like a dog! I will not comment that any further, I believe in the Choreographers sense he saw in that!
Then Gerry had her solo show, she was performing “It’ raining man” a cover version of the same song by the weather girls, which was a huge success in Germany a few years ago. She enjoyed her performance; I do only recommend not to wear high heels and then step over the dancers backs, I guess the poor guys had a pain after that!
As I mentioned Mel C is famous in Germany and so it doesn’t surprise that her song “I turn to you” from 1999 made the crowd go wild!

After several dress changes and lots of good songs, with spectacular light shows and videos that were shown on a big screen, the Spice Girls finished the show with “goodbye” , a slow song, and disappeared from the stage. Well, the crowd was not happy at all, so the girls came out again, and performed another 3 songs, the most important one, “wannabe”, which made them the most successful girl pop band of the 90ies! What a great show!

What I really liked was the fact, that they really seemed to like each other, they were cuddling all the time, and they also could speak some few words in German, which I think is really nice of them, and brings their fans even closer! Fans from all over Europe and in all ages, I saw kids, who I believe didn’t live when the Spice Girls were famous, but also elderly people, and everybody was having so much fun. They only performed 1 ½ hours, but it was worth the 77 euros (110 $). Their reunion was the best idea of the year!

December 20th...

Should you dump your girlfriend or boyfriend before Christmas?
I've always heard that Halloween is the deadline to dump your significant other but today Jeff and Jenn learned that more and more people are getting dumped before the Christmas holiday. Would you want your man to wait? I would. Just pretend that we're together and happy and then dump me on January 2nd.

5 Ways to use the holidays to see if they're cheating...

1.) Go with your person to their company Christmas party and see how they interact with their co-workers of the opposite sex. If they are cheating with someone at the office... They'll either be too formal, or really awkward, or go out of their way to make sure you know that co-worker is "just a friend."

2.) Strange Christmas day behavior. Watch for your man/woman to communicate in some way with their other lover. It might just be a text or something like that but it will happen.

3.) If you find a hidden Christmas gift and then you never receive it. You REALLY want to investigate this one.

4.) If you find a duplicate Christmas gift, chances are ones for you and ones for the lover.

5.) If you notice a BIG change in gift giving. For example if you used to get a gift card and now you are getting Tiffany's there is something to this. Pay attention!!!

Holiday tipping...
Angie's Hicks from "Angie's List" joined Jeff and Jenn to talk about holiday tipping. Here's a list of holiday tipping tips...

With help from the experts, Angie’s List offers the following advice to help consumers get through the holiday season:
Holiday-related services
• Personal shoppers/concierge/errand services – a tip of 15 to 20 percent is recommended, possibly more, depending on the complexity or amount of work you have them do for you – some of these services will do shopping, gift wrapping, mailing of gifts, etc.
• Contractors who help hang your decorations, lights, etc. – A tip of $20 to $50 for the crew may be in order, again based on the complexity of the task.
• Event entertainment, like Santa impersonators, carolers or musicians – a tip of 15 to 20 percent is appropriate.
• Bag boys or others who help carry your packages to your car – a tip of $1 per package/bag may be in order, though probably no more than $5. Chefs or Caterers
• If you use this service throughout the year, a tip of $25 to $50 may be appropriate or a gift of equal value.
• If you hire the chef for a holiday party or family gathering, tip 15 to 20 percent based on the final cost. However, many advise you shouldn’t include the cost of alcohol in determining the tip amount. However, it’s up to you.
• For caterers working an event in your home, it’s customary to tip 15-to-20 percent spread among the “captain” and the servers. Housecleaners
• Many suggest $25 to $50, a day’s pay or a gift of equal value.
• If you use a service that sends a different housecleaner each time, this may not be necessary, unless you ask them to do some one-time tasks to help you prepare for the holidays – such as helping unpack and put up decorations; a deep cleaning before a party, etc. Babysitters, nannies and childcare providers
• For babysitters, the recommendation is a gift at the holidays from your kids, plus one or two nights pay.
• For a full-time nanny, one to four weeks’ pay plus a small gift from your kids is appropriate.
• For standard childcare providers, a gift at the holidays and $25 to $75 each. This may not be appropriate for some pre-Kindergarten child care/education providers. Check with the manager of the facility to see what’s appropriate, which may be a small gift from your kids. Contractors you use year-round (such as yard workers, handymen, etc.)
• A tip of $20 to $50 may be in order. Mail carriers and daily paperboy
• Though the U.S. Postal Service frowns on gratuities and gifts for mail carriers, authorities request that the gift or gratuity be $20 or less.
• For daily newspaper delivery, a holiday tip of $15 to $25 is appropriate.

Fritsch family recipes...

Turkey Dressing…. Serves about 10-15 people

Set out 3 loafs of bread to dry-at least one full day before you want to serve the dressing. KEEP THE BREAD BAGS

Ingredients…
Take the 3 loafs and break into small pieces keep in the bread bags until you need them later
1 ½ cups of diced onions (sweet onions)
1 ½ cups of diced celery
2 large eggs
Turkey juice or chicken broth 12-20 oz
Poultry seasoning
Salt and pepper

Cooking…
Cover bottom of a skillet with oil, cook onions and celery until they are soft but not brown, slow cooking about 15-20 minutes

Mixing…
Put bread pieces into large mixing bowl
Sprinkle in a little salt and pepper
Pour cooked onion and celery mixture into bowl
Add 2 large eggs
Sprinkle in a little poultry seasoning
Pour about 12 oz of turkey juice or chicken broth into the bowl, Mix the dressing with a large spoon or your own clean hands until moist. Add more juice if you need it until dressing is moist. You don’t want it to be runny or watery

Grease a large pan with oil and pour dressing into the pan, smooth dressing to the edges of the pan. If you don’t have a large pan you can use multiple pans. Once the dressing has been put into the pan and smoothed over sprinkle a thin layer of poultry seasoning to the top. Just a dusting

Cover with Reynolds wrap and cook at 325 for about 25 minutes, remove the dressing, stir dressing and place back in the oven until the edges are golden brown, it usually take about 5 more minutes

Butterscotch Delight
1 box yellow cake mix
1 box butterscotch pudding (cook & serve) you cannot use instant pudding
2 cups milk
1 bag butterscotch chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Mix 2 cups milk and pudding together cook over medium heat until thickens, pour over dry cake mix, mix together, batter will be lumpy
Pour batter into pan that has been sprayed with Pam, sprinkle chips on top of cake
Bake 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes
You can tell when cake is done by looking at it,do not use toothpick to check.
Helpful hints-
Cake is better if you can let it set overnight before eating it. After cake cools completely ,store in covered pan.

November 21st...

The Bachelor...

I (Fritsch) was so upset after watching "The Bachelor" last night. The current bachelor Brad dumped BOTH girls and totally set them up. He raved of their quailities and even said he would put a ring on the one girl's finger but then turned around and dumped them both. What an awful scandal for ratings!!!! Find out what Brad has to say tonight at 10pm on ABC's "The Bachelor: After the show."

Jerry Penacoli...
"Extra" TV correspondent Jerry Penacoli called Jeff and Jenn's Hollywood Hotline today and totally called out Britney Spears. Jerry claims that Britney Spears has hired a driver. Jerry also said that Britney Spears is definitely one to call the paparazzi and let them know where she will be so they can take pictures.

Whatever you chose just have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Thanks to all who called with thoughts and suggestions. Special thanks to Cheryl who won't be putting up a tree this year. Instead she's opting for a Christmas tree sticker for her wall.

What's HOT with Fritsch???
The new Britney CD BABY!!! Today for "What's Hot with Fritsch" I reviewed the new Britney Spears CD "Blackout." If you can separate Britney from the CD it is really good. The music is fun and very upbeat for dancing or drinking with friends. Downside is that it's VERY sexy and probably not suitable for kids.
